We collect contact, identity, employment, financial, family and insurance information to answer enquiries and arrange protection. Sources include you, employers, credit checks and public records. Where needed, insurance work involves health, ethnicity, children’s information or criminal disclosures.
We use information for contractual services, legitimate interests in administration and responding to queries, and legal or regulatory duties. Sensitive insurance data is processed under the substantial-public-interest insurance condition. We obtain consent before using tools that access bank or credit information.
Information is stored in paper and electronic records and shared where necessary with insurers, our network, relevant specialists and service providers. The network uses records for supervision, audits, complaints and regulatory requests. Overseas transfers require adequate protection; contact us for safeguards.
We safeguard records against unauthorised access or loss. We retain information for at least six years, or our relationship’s duration if longer; the network may retain it longer for legal duties.
Subject to legal conditions, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability of your information. Contact us using the details above; we may need to verify your identity.
Your right to object: you can object to processing based on legitimate interests and to direct marketing. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing. Sharing information to progress your enquiry does not grant third parties permission to market to you.
We will explain any applicable limits on a request. If information is required for an application, not supplying it may prevent us from progressing that application.
You can manage or block cookies through your browser settings. Non-essential cookies require consent. Blocking essential cookies may affect website functions.
For concerns about personal information, contact Protected Life first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
For a complaint about our service, contact us so it can be considered through the network’s complaints process. This is separate from your right to raise data protection concerns with the ICO.
For the network’s information and contact details, visit The Money Group. You can ask us for further details about how your records are handled.
